Be Still

Psalm 46:10

“Be still and know that I am God…”
*******************

Yesterday passed like many; full of moving from this to that, starting early and ending late.  Sometimes, we can get so caught up in a day that important remembrances slip by us.

A year ago yesterday, my Grandma Bonnie took her last breath on this planet and moved on to her joyful eternity in Heaven.

It was a day I would have liked to spend time remembering her.  She had such an amazing impact on my life as well as that of my family.  But, I was consumed by the day and missed an opportunity to think about her and roll sweetly through time, relishing in memories of her.

In this Psalm, God gives us an absolute way to be with Him.  We just need to be still.  When we are still, His peace can fill us and we remember those things which might otherwise pass us by, in the hectic chaos of our day.

Father God,
There are so many ways which You show us Your presence in this world.  We can see
You in the majesty of Your creation through softly falling snow, the beautiful sunset, a gentle rain.
But the best way for us to be with You is just to…be still.
Give us Your peace, Lord, so that we can be filled with Your spirit and remember those who have left us to be with You.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray,
Amen.
