Do You Do What You Want To Do?

Romans 7:15

“I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do, but what I do not want to do, I do. “
*********************

The daily battle is between what we know is right and what we know is wrong.  We all have the best of intentions.  “Starting today, I will…” or, “Tomorrow, I won’t…”  Yet, when we end the day, we have left that thing undone, or the next day, we continue down the wrong path.

There are so many times in my life when I have started on the right path.  I say to myself, “I will...” But the flaw in my effort is not in the intent, it’s in the focus of how it will happen.: “I say to MYself, ‘I will…”.

Yes, it is good to be self sufficient.  But our daily struggle with temptation and choice is not one of this world; it is a spiritual battle.  And, if a spiritual battle, it is not one I can win, no matter how hard I try.  Only in my admittance that I am weak can God win this battle.  His power is made perfect in my weakness.  When the fight against that thing I do not want to do is won, it is not because of ME, but Him.

Heavenly Father,
You know my struggles.  You see me try to fight and win a battle I cannot.  I lose, but You still love me.
When I put You ahead of me, trust in You to triumph in spite of my shortcomings, Your victory is glorious.
Help me to remember to place my weakness on Your strength.
In the name of Your most perfect Son, Jesus Christ, I pray,
Amen.
